Building Soil With Rotted Wood Compost
In keeping with our philosophy, we use as much natural material as we can find on our own property to enhance our soil. Since our island is the target of the occasional hurricane we always seem to have enough fallen trees and limbs around to build a substantial brush pile.

We like using rotted wood compost as opposed to wood chips and sawdust because we are already dealing with organic matter and we gain immediate agricultural benefits as opposed to waiting for the wood fibers to break down. We also don't need to worry about attracting unwanted termites into the area.

Our first video goes through the process of getting our compost ready to spread around our fruit trees to help build up the soil.

Our next video, which will be available shortly, will demonstrate our use of the wood compost to enhance in our clay soil.
